This exceptional C. Bechstein Concert Grand, built around 1900, represents the final generation of the company’s legendary fishtail design — the immediate predecessor of the later Model E introduced in the 1920s. Measuring approximately 270–275 cm (9 ft) in length, it was Bechstein’s flagship concert instrument of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The characteristic “fishtail” cabinet — with its broad, flared rear — was designed to enhance acoustic projection and resonance, giving the piano a majestic presence and deep, orchestral sound. Crafted in Berlin, this concert grand showcases the finest German craftsmanship of Bechstein’s golden era: powerful bass, singing treble, and an expressive tonal palette that inspired generations of pianists.

An extraordinary example of early concert design, combining historical significance, architectural beauty, and the unmistakable sonority of pre-war Bechstein instruments.
